Stephen Priest is a member of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Oxford. He is Senior Research Fellow at Blackfriars Hall, Oxford and a member of Wolfson College, Oxford and Hughes Hall, Cambridge.

Stephen is the author of The British Empiricists (Penguin), Theories of the Mind (Penguin), Merleau-Ponty (Routledge), and The Subject in Question (Routledge). He is editor of Hegel’s Critique of Kant (OUP), Jean-Paul Sartre: Basic Writings (Routledge) and co-editor (with Antony Flew) of A Dictionary of Philosophy (Macmillan). He has been Visiting Professor at universities in France, Germany, Japan, Macedonia, the Netherlands, and the United States. Colleagues from Oxford and around the world have recently authored a Festschrift for Stephen: https://www.peterlang.com/document/1152588 His writing has been translated into Dutch, Spanish, Russian, Macedonian, Japanese and Korean.
